Noah New York Raises Thousands Of Dollars For Haiti At Successful Fourth Annual Gala

NEW YORK, NY (June 7, 2013) –On Wednesday June 5th, the National Organization for the Advancement of Haitians (NOAH) New York Chapter, in collaboration with Howard University, held its Fourth Annual Fundraising Gala at the IAC Building in New York City. The elegant evening featured well-regarded speakers, an enchanting singer and talented musicians, who were joined by approximately 300 impressive donors and friends.

The pre-dinner cocktail hour was standing room only, with avid supporters of NOAH’s philanthropic efforts in Haiti. An online auction and a raffle signup followed, and then guests were directed to the main program. NOAH NY President Dr. Henry Paul kicked off the event citing the organization’s mission and purpose, including a video of the activities for the past year.

The Master of Ceremonies for the evening was Wayne A. I. Frederick, MD, MBA, FACS, Provost and Chief Academic Officer, Howard University, who has been a great friend to NOAH NY and its cause. Honorees Kurt Schmoke, Esq, Vice President and General Counsel at Howard University; Dame Petra Nemcova, Amb. at Large for Haiti, Founder & Chair of the Happy Hearts Fund; Linda Brady, MD, President & CEO of Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center; and Susan Kwon, Vice President, Network Management at Healthfirst were recognized for their commitment and dedication to Haitian Community. Nemcova charmed the audience, demonstrating her command of the native tongue and shared a video of her foundation’s work. The gala co-chairs, celebrity photographer Marc Baptiste and Joel Davidson, Esq. were very pleased with the turnout.

NOAH NY and the Haitian American Alliance (HAA) have conducted several medical missions, providing much-needed healthcare in Fort Liberté, Haiti. The next medical mission is slated for June 22 to July 1, 2013

NOAH NY is the New York based chapter of the not-for- profit National Organization for the Advancement of Haitians, founded in Washington, DC in 1991. Healthcare, community development and education have always been the primary focus of NOAH NY. Medical mission volunteers include doctors, nurses, pharmacists, dentists, social workers, public health specialists and educators who pay their own expenses to participate in life supporting efforts that take place at Fort Liberté Hospital in Haiti.
